Plot in a Nutshell: A scientist is injected with too much regeneration serum, driving him crazy and making him ultra-powerful.

Story Summary: A strange object falls from the night sky in Minnesota.  What can it be?  Whatever it is, Oscar immediately orders a cover-up.

The Six Million Dollar Man - The Pioneers

"Get me the Secretary.  Mr. Secretary?  Nothing to report.  Everything is fine. Nothing has fallen from the sky."

Oscar and Rudy call Steve in, explaining that they are in a bind, but refusing to give him any information about what's going on.

The Six Million Dollar Man - The Pioneers

Steve: "Can you at least tell me where this plane is going?"

Rudy: "Shut up, Steve."

Meanwhile, a space capsule is sitting in the middle of the forest with something pounding on the walls, desperately trying to escape from inside.

The Six Million Dollar Man - The Pioneers

Whatever it is, it seems vaguely familiar.

The creature escapes it's confines and terrorizes two campers in order to eat their cold cuts.

The Six Million Dollar Man - The Pioneers

"Mmmmm, Farmer John's. My favorite.  I hope that's beer in the cooler."

Steve and Rudy bail from the airplane and set out in search of the crashed space capsule.  They quickly come across it and find Dr. Nicole Simmons frozen inside a cryogenic chamber.  But Rudy discovers that the other capsule occupant is missing.

Using the atomic battery-pack in Steve's arm, they defrost Dr. Simmons.  She and Dr. David Tate had been testing a new cell regeneration serum that would allow cryogenically frozen people to return easily and quickly from a suspended state.

While the defrosting is in progress, David, who received far too much serum in the crash, returns to the capsule.

The Six Million Dollar Man - The Pioneers

Heeeeere's Johnny!

He knocks Rudy out cold and smashes his walkie-talkie.  Steve can't stop him because he must remain still while Dr. Simmons defrosts.

After the defrosting process has finished, Steve and Nicole head out to find David.  They discover him lying unconscious on the shore of a small river.  He's lucid at first, but when some of Oscar's guys show up, he attacks them and runs off into the woods.

The Six Million Dollar Man - The Pioneers

"Stop buggin' me or I swear to God I'll throw this mannequin at you!"

Steve chases him down and the game is on!

First, they play tag.

Then a game of catch.

Then David goes swimming.

And Steve joins him.

The Six Million Dollar Man - The Pioneers

It's all fun and games until David gets shot.

The Six Million Dollar Man - The Pioneers

"No fair! I was winning!"

The End.

How Did You Do That Quote:

Nicole Simmons: "Is your arm generating the power to work the defroster?"

Nicole Simmons: "Then it has to be atomic powered."

Nicole Simmons:"Your arm's bionic."

Final Thoughts:  Another solid entry.  Season 2 is shaping up well.  The bionic fights are getting better.  No blatantly obvious stuntmen.  Good stuff.

Comments

Callahan was always one of my favorite characters. In fact, she's one of the characters that should have been there for the wedding, maybe as Jamie's Maid of Honor.

1) I'm not getting my power points for votes.

2) Three Steves? It's much better than three Steves unless you equate three Steves with five bionic limbs. All will be revealed in an upcoming Cyborgs-A Bionic Podcast.

Goldman, out!

In response to your complaints:

1) No you are not.  I realized that not only was that function not working but it was going to be virtually impossible to get it to work.  At least, impossible without doing a bunch of custom coding that is currently over my head.  Hopefully one day I can get that up and running, until then, power points only come from comments, so please comment, comment, comment.  Don't hold back.  Let it all hang out.

2) I admit that keeping Steve in the dark about his mission like they do is good for some laughs, and Oscar being a complete failure and then getting choked up about it kinda choked me up too, and Mike Farrell really is an excellent Bigfoot prototype, and if I were a Bigfoot prototype I would steal peoples bologna sandwiches too, there's no denying it, but in the end, I can't in good conscience give it more Steve's than I really feel it deserves.  3 Steves it is, and 3 Steves it must stay.

Right foot, in! (We're playing Hokey Pokey, right?)

Ah, Jennifer Darling.  Such a cutie.  Looking forward to her arrival in the series.

The only comment I'll make is that the guest star was Joan Darling, who played the secretary in Owen Marshall Councelor At Law with Lee Majors and Arthur Hill. The show Lee was on before Six Mill. I think its funny that both secretaries were named Darling. The other one being Jennifer Darling who played Callahan.
