Ah, those many years ago. I still remember sending off for my kit. I filled out the order form (provided with all Kenner bionic toys at the time) and sent it away in an envelope.
I bugged my Mom for a while, constantly asking if it had come yet, had it come yet, is it here yet? I even remember eventually forgetting about it entirely.
Then, one day, when my Aunt Loraine was visiting, I came home from playing to find the envelope sticking out of the mailbox. The excitement was overwhelming. Woo Hoo! I even asked my virtually blind aunt to read the certificate for me while I looked at the photo and sticker. She gamely made an attempt but my Mom put the kibosh on it and told me to go play with it by myself. Man, vivid memories.

I felt terrible because I had effectively ruined my photo. I hid it away in a drawer and rarely took it out again unless I wanted to get depressed. So many photos from magazines, tv guides, and books that I had collected and one little moment of weakness with a pen on one picture made me feel awful. Go figure.
